Anjali Rai is a classically trained Hindustani vocalist from Banaras. She grew up by the ghats, where thumri, kajri and the city's folk songs are part of everyday life, and trained in classical music from childhood.
She has lived and worked in Mumbai for over ten years, where she sings playback for Bollywood projects, releases her own original music and performs live.
Her concert Sukoon-E-Sur brings together Sufi, thumri, kajri, golden-era Bollywood and her originals. She sang and acted in the musical film Glimpse of Devdas, and was blessed by Asha Bhosle ji on a live show.
